Private funding for traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and spinal cord injuries (SCI) provides options and solves problems for individuals with TBI and SCI. Often, clients with these kinds of injuries do not have adequate insurance, or no insurance, and the Private Funding program can pay for needed home care supports and services such as nursing care, respite care, ramps, home modifications, specialized medical equipment not covered by insurance, transportation, mortgage assistance, and household expenses. In the last 18 months, the Private Funding programs have funded more than 125 requests nationwide from families with members who have SCI and TBI.

The Private Funding program can pay for needed supports and services for pediatric and adult trauma clients and aid them in their return to independence.

The proposed health care changes to the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and state waiver programs are likely to reduce or eviscerate benefits and complicate home care planning and service implementation for the nursing agencies who serve individuals with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.

Private Funding for Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries may be able help, as it is the only national program which provides prompt eligibility determination and benefits for clients who have suffered traumatic injuries.

Health care providers and families nationwide requested that I create a website so they would have access to the eligibility criteria, benefits for children and adults, a medical glossary, and answers to frequently asked questions about Private Funding.
