Philadelphia, PA (March 6, 2025) — BAYADA Home Health Care, the nation’s largest independent, nonprofit home health care provider with 33,000 employees worldwide, has been selected by Newsweek as one of its Great Workplaces for Black Americans.

BAYADA was chosen as one of the top 500 companies in the US and rated five stars, Newsweek’s highest rating.

“We at BAYADA put a lot of thought and work into supporting all of our employees so that they feel valued and comfortable at work,” said Joe Wendover, Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at BAYADA. “It’s rewarding that our efforts have placed us as one of the top 500 companies in the country for Black Americans.”

This award is based on a study of publicly accessible data, interviews with BAYADA staff, and large-scale confidential online surveys conducted among employees from US companies that employ more than 1,000 employees. The study included over 62,000 interviews with Black employees and 904,000 company reviews. Key performance indicators included leadership, integrity, compensation, work-life balance scores, and many others.

BAYADA sponsors six thriving Employee Resource Councils, including one focused on racial and ethnic diversity. The organization offers monthly meetings that give employees a chance to get involved and have their voices heard. BAYADA has also started a supplier diversity program to reach out to businesses owned by women, racially and ethnically diverse individuals, people with disabilities, veterans, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and others. The company offers extensive, free training programs that allow employees to chart a career path with opportunities for advancement. And BAYADA listens to its employees via quarterly employee experience surveys, a compliance hotline, regular 1:1s with managers, a confidential reporting system, and ongoing opportunities to share feedback and ideas.

Two often cited key values in BAYADA’s statement of purpose, The BAYADA Way are Compassion and Excellence.

Compassion: BAYADA strives to “treat others the way they wish to be treated,” with kindness and understanding. The company aims to be an inclusive environment where all employees can thrive, and all clients can receive high-quality, personalized care with a sense of well-being, dignity, and trust.

Excellence: BAYADA hires the best qualified staff without prejudice and values diversity of perspective because it yields better care services, innovation, decision making, teamwork, and business outcomes.
