BAYADA Home Health Care Government Affairs Office Area Director Laura Ness, of Philadelphia, was recently announced as one of the award winners of the Advocacy Association’s Top Twenty-one in Twenty-one Awards. These awards aim to recognize the practitioners who have excelled in advocacy during the past year.

The Advocacy Association, based in Washington, DC, is considered the premiere resource for advocacy, grassroots, communications, and government affairs professionals throughout the country. The nominations process was extremely competitive this year. Nominations were submitted by peers in the advocacy community, and winners were selected by a panel of esteemed judges.

BAYADA’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Dave Totaro said of Laura’s win, “For many in the home health care industry, advocacy became front-and-center like never before. BAYADA is proud to see one of its own recognized for the legislative and grassroots leadership achievements she has made over the past year. On behalf of all our staff and clients, we thank Laura for all the valuable contributions that she has provided to the home care community.”

Laura has been with BAYADA for more than ten years. She leads a team of advocacy professionals and volunteer client, family, and staff advocates across several mid-Atlantic states. During Laura’s tenure, she has successfully led the way towards legislative accomplishments in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Indiana, Delaware, and Missouri. These successes have helped BAYADA and other home health care providers to increase vulnerable residents’ access to care at home and has allowed BAYADA to better recruit and retain much-needed caregivers.

Upon receiving the award Laura said, “I am proud of what I have accomplished at BAYADA. I am especially proud of how I have engaged home care clients, families, and caregivers in advocacy. Their voices are so impactful and need to be heard in D.C. and across our nation’s state capitals. I hope to continue to cultivate that passion for advocacy in others so that legislators and decision-makers can see how important increasing access to home health care really is.”
