Chalie Beatty is BAYADA’s 2026 LPN National Hero of the Year

Chalie Beatty brings energy, reliability, and commitment to care that makes him truly one of a kind. As BAYADA’s 2026 License Practical Nurse National Hero of the Year, he’s known across teams and families alike as the nurse who shows up—no matter the situation—and gives everything he has to every client he serves.

For the Smith family, that impact is deeply personal. Their son Lewis, now 28, lives with cerebral palsy, global delays, and epilepsy. For years, they managed his care on their own. But as his needs became more complex, they turned to BAYADA—and that’s when Chalie came into their lives.

From his very first day, Chalie stepped into Lewis’s routine with ease. “He just slid right in perfectly without any disruptions,” said Joanne, Lewis’ mother. Despite Lewis being non-verbal, his response to Chalie is unmistakable. “When Chalie comes in… you can see Lewis looking up with his eyes. Part of it is that he’s happy to see him. And part of it is, ‘Okay, get strapped in because Chalie’s here.’”

That presence—steady, upbeat, and fully engaged—is what sets Chalie apart. Whether he’s completing a full assessment, managing medications, or taking Lewis outside for fresh air and movement, he approaches every moment with intention and care. “We can always count on Chalie being 100% present for us,” the family says. “It never affects how he shows up.”

That consistency extends far beyond a single home. Chalie has cared for more than 25 clients with a wide range of complex needs, earning a reputation as someone BAYADA teams can rely on in any situation—from last-minute staffing needs to the most challenging cases. “At BAYADA, Chalie shows up,” one team member says. “It’s a blizzard, it’s COVID—he’s there.”

He also brings that same dedication to supporting others. As a preceptor, Chalie is always eager to mentor new nurses, sharing his experience and helping them build the confidence they need to succeed. “Stop asking me,” he jokes with his manager. “Just tell me when they’re coming—I love precepting.”

At the center of it all is a simple belief in the value of the work. “My sole purpose in being an LPN is giving excellent care to my clients,” Chalie says. “I love my work. I love what I do, and I give all I have every time I’m at one of my clients’ houses.”

Chalie Beatty was honored as BAYADA’s 2026 LPN National Hero of the Year at BAYADA’s Awards Weekend in Nashville, TN.

Through every shift, every client, and every challenge, Chalie shows what it means to lead with heart, show up without hesitation, and make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
