The New Jersey Senate recently declared October 4, 2012 as “BAYADA Day” throughout New Jersey. The resolution, sponsored by Senator Nellie Pou (D-35), paid tribute to the nurses, therapists, and home health aides who “have fostered superior quality in health care delivery, as well as demonstrated an unwavering devotion to their patients and their families.”

Sen. Pou presented the proclamation to BAYADA Home Health Care Founder and President Mark Baiada on the floor of the Senate. “Every one of us has been touched by the experience of having a family member with an illness or disability who needs care so they can remain at home,” said Sen. Pou. “BAYADA provides high quality care in the home from pediatrics to geriatrics. They are the state’s largest provider of home health care services, employing 7,500 people in New Jersey.”

More than 60 BAYADA staff members, including the home health aides who play such an integral role in keeping people in the safety and comfort of home, watched from the Senate chamber gallery as Baiada accepted the proclamation.

“I am deeply grateful to Senator Pou and her esteemed colleagues in the Senate for this distinguished honor,” said Baiada. “I thank them for shining the spotlight on the people we consider to be our heroes on the home front - our nurses, home health aides, and therapists who do whatever it takes, each and every day, to ensure our clients get the care they need at home.”

Recognizing BAYADA for its commitment to quality, Senator Diane Allen (R-7) noted, “I am proud to have the BAYADA home office in my district. They are a company that believes in helping others and to do the right thing. Their philosophy should be a template for other companies to follow.”

Senator James Beach (D-6) added, “It is an honor to have BAYADA with us. I offer thanks to you and your staff for what you do, each and every day.”

“Home health care has proven, time and again, to be a lower cost, higher quality alternative to hospital or facility-based long-term care,” said Baiada. “We will continue to advocate on behalf of our clients to ensure they have ease of access to home health care services and that our home health care professionals receive the fair wages they most certainly deserve.”
