In partnership with Drexel University's College of Nursing and Health Professionals and in its 15th year, the 2019 BAYADA Award applications are now underway!
The BAYADA Award for Technological Innovation in Health Care Education and Practice was established in 2004 by Mark and Ann Baiada in recognition of health care providers who have made significant contributions to education or practice through the development or adoption of new technologies.
In 2019, Mark Baiada continues his commitment to education and giving back. Individuals with innovative ideas in either of the two categories below are encouraged to apply here by April 1, 2019 for a chance to win $10,000 each:- Health care education: Includes both didactic and clinical curricular delivery methods and improving student clinical competency outcomes; Last year’s winner was Alexander Y. Sheng, MD, assistant residency program director, assistant professor, Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine for developing Learning Moment (LM), a web-based platform, to bridge that gap and support experimental learning for medical students.
- Clinical practice: Includes patient care, improving efficiency of health care delivery, preventing errors, and improving safety and outcomes; Last year’s winner was Hope Bussenius DNP, FNP-BC, assistant clinical professor, Emory University for developing and launching innovative app, Pedia BP® to monitor pediatric blood pressure in low-resource clinics in Atlanta, Moultrie, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

The Baiadas have been longtime supporters of Drexel University. Mark Baiada previously served as a trustee for the Drexel University College of Medicine, and he and his wife received the degree of doctor of humane letters, honoris causa, in 2014 from Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions.

BAYADA is committed to education and training and provides a variety of learning opportunities, advancement initiatives, and career pathways for its employees. These include live and self-directed online courses, classroom training, and Nurse Residency Programs—an intensive training and mentoring program for new nurse graduates (LPN and RN) to prepare them to deliver exceptional in-home care. BAYADA also offers annual scholarships, adult and pediatric simulation lab training (the first in home care), and an annual conference (BAYADA White Shoes Symposium for Clinical Excellence) for BAYADA clinical leaders to learn about the latest clinical and managerial breakthroughs and evidence-based practices.
