Saroyan, MD, FAAP, HMDCB, medical director of BAYADA Hospice—a specialty practice of BAYADA Home Health Care—was recently named a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).  The Academy is the professional organization for physicians who care for patients with serious illness, and Fellowship is one of the highest honors it can bestow on a physician member.

BAYADA Hospice Helps Grant Final Wish for Couple’s Anniversary

Andy and Kathy Leclaire split a milkshake at Yankee Candle Village. They took the trip to celebrate their 39th – and final – wedding anniversary. 

Andy and Kathy Leclaire knew exactly what they wanted to do for their 39th – and final – wedding anniversary in October. They hoped to visit Yankee Candle Village. Located in Deerfield, Massachusetts, about 30 miles south of their home in Brattleboro, Vermont, the trip may have been simple a few years ago, but would now require a team effort.

In February of 2014, Andy received a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (otherwise known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). Since then, he and his wife Kathy have focused on enjoying the time they have left together, and making new memories. In March of 2015, as his ALS progressed, the family called BAYADA Hospice to address his quality of life and help ease his pain and symptoms.

BAYADA Veterans Day Visit

US Army veteran Dick Miller (center) receives a letter of thanks and certificate of appreciation from Brett Vuyovich, US Army Veteran and BAYADA Volunteer; and Mayumi Kimura, US Navy veteran and BAYADA Client Services Manager.

For the second consecutive year, BAYADA Hospice honored its veteran patients during Veterans Day week by visiting them and providing a unique recognition.

“We sat with each patient for about an hour talking about their time in service and life in general,” explained BAYADA Client Services Manager and US Navy veteran Mayumi Kimura.

BAYADA Home Health Care Founder and President Mark Baiada received the 2012 Home Care and Hospice Hall of Fame Award from the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) at their annual meeting in Orlando, Florida on Monday, October 22. The award honors those who have dedicated their life to the care and service of others.
