BAYADA Home Health Care is celebrating The Year of Recognition by honoring our home health care professionals and their commitment to The BAYADA Way. Through our various rewards and recognition programs, we are praising hard work and a true commitment to compassion, excellence, and reliability. It is in this spirit of recognition that we share Ricardo Figueroa's story.

Ricardo Figueroa, RN walks into his local BAYADA Home Health Care office to drop off his time sheet and pick up some routine paperwork. Upon entering the front doors, he immediately notices a large banner draped across the wall. He also sees multi-colored balloons, an incredible luncheon spread, and his colleagues waiting to greet him. Their wide smiles betray their efforts to remain nonchalant. Upon closer examination, Figueroa realizes it is his name adorning the banner. This festive atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop for his “Nurse Hero” award celebration!

“It’s a very good feeling to be recognized by your peers,” Figueroa shared. He did not expect this warm and thoughtful recognition.  “There is a human quality that comes through, at BAYADA, you can read about this commitment, but it is so much more than words on paper, everyone here, through their actions, share in a spirit of universal love."

Figueroa was nominated for the Hero on the Home Front award thanks to the exceptional care he provides to his client, a 65-year-old college professor with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, preventing them from sending messages to the muscles and ultimately causing paralysis.

Gloria Hodges, the client’s wife, explains why Figueroa deserved this prestigious honor. “He is thorough, conscientious, and shows his love, support and patience. This on top of his medical expertise,” she said.  “When a hurricane hit last summer, he traveled to stay with my husband for the duration of the storm. There is no amount of pay or thanks that can equal the amount of love, concern, and dedication he has shown my husband.”

“The BAYADA Hero Program honors employees who meet and exceed the company’s high standards set for home health professionals,” explained Maryann Prudhomme, director with the BAYADA Home Health Care office serving Atlantic and Cape May counties. “Once a professional is chosen as an office Hero, they have the opportunity to be chosen as one of the regional Heroes. From there, the company selects national Heroes who are then honored at an annual awards ceremony.”

Figueroa, who provided care at a rehabilitation facility prior to joining the company, has never before experienced this type of recognition and support. Of his experience with BAYADA, he said, “Even though the care I now provide is inside my client’s home, I am never alone. My home care team is ready to provide clinical support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and I really enjoy one-on-one care with my clients.”

Employees are the greatest asset at BAYADA and a host of recognition programs drive this point home.  In addition to the Hero Program, BAYADA offers the following:

Education, mentoring, and support

BAYADA offers free educational opportunities through classroom and one-on-one instruction, self-directed learning modules, mentoring, and access to BAYADA University online course offerings.

BAYADA Presidential Scholarship Program

BAYADA awards annual scholarships to recognize individual employee achievement and to support education in health care.

Talent Scout program

If an employee refers a friend, both will be rewarded by receiving a bonus once the eligibility requirement is met.

BAYADA Bucks program

Through the BAYADA Bucks program, employees are awarded vouchers that can be redeemed for  items such as Tiffany & Co. jewelry, GPS devices, designer handbags, and much more. Employees receive BAYADA Bucks in recognition of perfect attendance, employee referrals, hero nominations, years of service, educational achievements, and for receiving special praise from a client.

“Home care is a wonderful chance to give those in need your full attention, providing them with individualized care that speaks to both their physical and emotional needs,” said Figueroa.

BAYADA offers full-time and part-time employment opportunities to nurses, therapists, and home health aides interested in working with children and adults in the home setting.  The company offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to those who meet eligibility requirements.
