The seven chakras refer to the main energy points that are found in the human body. While they have not been thoroughly examined in medical studies, each chakra is associated with nerve bundles, major organs, and areas of the human energetic body which affect emotional and physical well-being.
What the root chakra represents
The root chakra is found at the base of the spine and is responsible for your feelings of safety and security in life. It is often considered the foundation for all the other chakras which come after. Someone who has a misaligned or unbalanced root chakra may feel restless or unsettled in their career or purpose. Root chakra healing allows positive and supportive energies to come into your life and reestablishes your connection to the earth and your surroundings, relieving some of these fears.

• Micro-restorative practices are small, short exercises you can use throughout your shift either at a desk or station or between patients to help center yourself and practice mindfulness and self-care.
• Mindfulness is a stress reduction technique that can be practiced at any time to help ground yourself and maintain mental presence in the moment to avoid feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious.
How You can Clear Your Chakras for Overall Wellness
It is believed that each chakra provides subtle energy that helps your mind, organs, and intellect work at their peak. When referring to chakra balancing or healing, the focus is on channeling energy into the chakras to treat the energetic body.
Clearing the Root Chakra
Keep your mind on the mantra “I am…” to help clear your mind during meditations to start healing this chakra. If you find yourself feeling unmoored or restless, try introducing root chakra balancing aromatherapy with essential oils such as sandalwood, rosemary, patchouli, myrrh, and ylang-ylang. Include naturally red colored foods, root vegetables and animal proteins into your diet to bring grounding energy into your meals.
Clearing the Sacral Chakra
Focusing on the mantra “I feel…” can help you reflect on feelings of gratitude and speak manifestations to improve focus and start healing this chakra. If you find yourself feeling emotionally unregulated or shut down, try adding more foods rich in Omega-3s, such as salmon. Nuts and seeds such as flax, almonds, walnuts, and sesame can also provide additional fatty Omega-3s and are a more versatile option for every day.
Drinking calendula or hibiscus teas can also help alleviate blockages and promote balance for this chakra.
Clearing the Solar Plexus Chakra
Using the mantra “I do…” can help heal the solar plexus chakra over time with regular practice. If you find yourself grappling with a lack of focus or confidence, try feeding this chakra with complex carbohydrates and whole grains such as oats, brown rice, beans, vegetables, and sprouted grains.
Drinking rosemary and cinnamon teas can also have a calming effect on this chakra, promoting openness and facilitate the removal of blockages.
Clearing the Heart Chakra

If you’re feeling disconnected from your loved ones or feeling especially isolated, try drinking fresh green juice, opt for a salad as one of your meals, or start your day with a green smoothie.
You can also steep jasmine or rose petal teas to promote emotional healing and relieve stress.
Clearing the Throat Chakra
Repeating the manta “I speak…” can help keep the throat chakra open. If you’re having an unusually difficult time expressing your thoughts or feelings at work or home, there are several soothing foods and liquids you can try that would help.
Throat soothing foods include coconut water, herbal teas (try red clover or eucalyptus tea), raw honey, tree fruits, and lemons.
Clearing the Third Eye Chakra
Meditating on the manta “I see…” can help open the third eye chakra and incorporating some foods and herbal teas can keep the third eye free. If you’re feeling unfocused or out of touch, try drinking mint and lemon teas and try to include more “brain foods” into your day than you might otherwise.
Grapes, blueberries, and even cacao can boost serotonin and relieve stress and blockage in your third eye.
Clearing the Crown Chakra
Consider the manta “I understand…” can help calm the crown chakra and center a person’s spirituality and connection to the collective whole. If you’re feeling disconnected or struggling with mental fog, try taking time to center yourself to soothe the crown chakra.
A great way to slow down and help reclaim balance is to drink lavender and lotus root herbal teas.
