Rey Delos Reyes, a registered nurse (RN) with the BAYADA Home Health office in Philadelphia, PA, was recognized as RN National Hero of the Year by BAYADA Home Health Care, a leading provider of in-home care.
Chosen from among thousands of nominees for his exceptional nursing skills and dedication to his clients, Reyes accepted the prestigious award for exemplifying the highest standards of care before more than 2,600 employees at the company’s annual awards event, held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic on May 20. The award was presented by BAYADA CEO David Baiada.
Reyes was able to move his family to Philadelphia from the Philippines in 2013 for his job as a BAYADA Nurse, where he provides care to clients who are recovering from an illness, injury, or procedure in the comfort of their home.
“Rey really builds those special bonds with clients. In the short timeframe he works with them, so many people remember what he did for them,” said Bill Sepich, BAYADA Director of the Philadelphia Home Health office.
As BAYADA Clinical Manger Lisa Cliggett, RN said, “Rey is the nurse you want to come out and take of you. He is a guru at wound care. He has very complex clients including the Sullivans who he’s been taking care of for a very long time.”
“If I could define Rey in one word it would be, the client, the client, the client,” said BAYADA client Charles Sullivan. “He is very, very concerned about the client. BAYADA is very fortunate to have an employee such as Rey.”
“I was surprised to be named Hero of the Year. My wife was so excited, she told my parents in the Philippines that I won the award. This is a really big deal for them. They were proud,” Reyes said. “I’m so glad that BAYADA was able to help me pursue my dream.”
The Hero of the Year Award is part of BAYADA’s Hero Program, which allows the company to recognize and reward those who exceed the highest standards of quality care and work ethic at an office, division, and national level. Heroes can be nominated by their colleagues and clients. All BAYADA employees and clients can nominate any registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, home health aide, or other professional caregiver.
“I want to congratulate all of our outstanding National Heroes,” said BAYADA CEO David Baiada. “The Hero Program has always been at the heart of BAYADA’s culture of recognition. I’m incredibly proud that, with the difficulties of the global pandemic over the past year, our teams across the country remained deeply committed to making our clinicians feel appreciated every single day for the incredible work they do to keep our clients safe in the comfort of home.”
