BAYADA Home Health Care has been honored with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, recognizing the Best Places to Work in 2018. The Employees’ Choice Awards program, now in its 10th year, relies solely on the input of employees, who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments, and companies via Glassdoor.

This announcement comes months after BAYADA Founder and Chairman Mark Baiada received Glassdoor’s “Highest Rated CEO” honor. Baiada founded the company in 1975 with $16,000 in savings and a compelling mission: to help every client have a safe home life with comfort, independence, and dignity. Since then, the company has grown from one office in Philadelphia to more than 325 service offices in 22 states, employing more than 26,000 nurses, home health aides, therapists, medical social workers, and other home health care professionals. Helping people has been—and always will be—the driving force behind BAYADA’s mission, vision, values, and beliefs, codified as The BAYADA Way.

“At BAYADA, we believe home health care is a calling, and that people who are drawn to it have something special in their hearts,” said BAYADA CEO David Baiada. “We work hard to nurture that mission-driven passion and to create a supportive environment. The transparency and authenticity of this Glassdoor ranking is evidence that our employees appreciate our unique culture, and for that, we are truly honored.”

BAYADA hires clinicians who are connected to purpose and who Love What They Do because it is their calling—and goes to great lengths to recognize and reward that commitment, with nearly a dozen employee recognition programs providing scholarships, incentives, and perks. As the first home care provider to offer nurses the opportunity to practice their skills in a clinical simulation lab, BAYADA also helps to foster employees’ individual growth with a variety of training and educational programs including nurse residency programs, specialization and certifications. In addition to investing in employees through competitive salary and tailored career progression, the company also supports clinicians with workflow-streaming technology such as tablets, electronic documentation, and telehealth communications.

In August of this year, Mark Baiada took another step in his commitment to BAYADA employees and clients by putting mission over money and launching the process of gifting the company into a newly created nonprofit organization.  The transition, believed to be the first of its kind in the home health care industry, is designed to protect the company from sale, keep employee jobs safe, and ensure that The BAYADA Way endures for generations to come.

“We know today’s job seekers are more informed than ever about where they go to work, researching everything from company culture to career opportunities to pay philosophy and more. To help people find companies that stand out from the pack, the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards recognize employers that are truly Best Places to Work because they’re determined by those who really know best - the employees,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor CEO and co-founder. “Employers where employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance advantage. We’re proud to celebrate the 2018 winners as we mark our tenth anniversary of the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards.”

On Glassdoor, current and former employees of companies worldwide can share insights and opinions about their work environments by sharing a company review, designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what it’s like to work at particular jobs and companies. When sharing a company review on Glassdoor, employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation, benefits, work/life balance, senior management, as well as culture and values. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.

The Best Places to Work are determined using company reviews shared by U.S.-based employees between November 1, 2016 and October 22, 2017. To be considered for the large category, a company must have at least 1,000 or more employees and have received at least 75 ratings across eight workplace attributes from U.S.-based employees during the period of eligibility. The final list is compiled based on Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, and takes into account quantity, quality, and consistency of reviews.
