BAYADA Pediatrics Nurse Residency Program Earns Accreditation with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation

The Pediatric RN Residency Program offers simulation lab training, which uses computerized manikins that mimic real-life medical emergencies

The BAYADA Pediatrics Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Program recently earned accreditation with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). BAYADA is the only home care company to achieve accreditation.

BAYADA Pediatrics, a specialty practice of BAYADA Home Health Care, provides nursing care at home and school for children from birth through adolescence with a wide range of complex medical needs. BAYADA introduced the RN Residency Program in 2014 with the goal of preparing recent nurse graduates to transition into a professional nursing role in pediatric home care. In 2017, BAYADA expanded the Residency Program to include recent Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) graduates.

Mary Montague, 20, of Burlington, NJ, who was born with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), recently welcomed New Jersey Legislative District 7 assembly candidate Carol Murphy to her home to witness, first-hand, the vital role that home care nurses play in her daily life.

SMA is a genetic disease that affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability for those with the disease to walk, eat, or breathe on their own. Since birth, Mary’s parents, Tara and Jim, have relied on nursing care at home to help with their daughter’s complex medical needs. However, it has become increasingly difficult to find nurses to cover the 16 hours of insurance-authorized care that Mary is eligible for every day.

Simulation lab training using computerized mannequins to mimic real-life medical emergencies is part of the  Nurse Residency Program, which prepares nurses to care for children in the home.

BAYADA Pediatrics, a specialty of BAYADA Home Health Care, is seeking candidates to apply for their post-graduate Pediatric Nurse Residency Program. This full-time, 12-week training program is designed to prepare recent nurse graduates for their transition into a professional nursing role in pediatric home care. The program is followed by a nine-month residency period as a pediatric field nurse.

BAYADA Pediatrics, a specialty of BAYADA Home Health Care,  presented a $1,400 donation to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)  in support of the 14th annual “98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon” which has raised over $7 million to support patient care programs at CHOP since its inception.  In addition, a team of BAYADA employees served as phone bank volunteers during the Radiothon, held recently in the hospital’s main lobby.
