After the premature birth of her son Jesse at only one pound, five ounces, Jen Silbert was terrified. She didn’t even feel like a mom, she felt like a visitor.
Due to hospital restrictions, she and her husband Cameron had to take turns seeing their fragile boy in the NICU. They learned every medical detail of their son’s condition. They pulled through surgeries and procedures and a long stay in Progressive Care—for a total of 291 exhausting days in the hospital.
Each tracheostomy and feeding tube change, every ventilator adjustment, reminded them that Jesse’s life was precious and nothing was ever guaranteed.
Home at Last
Then came December 8, the day Jesse came home with his parents under the care of BAYADA’s compassionate pediatric nursing team. With hospital-to-home pediatric transition support, Jen and Cameron could finally step fully into their roles as mom and dad. Their home became a high-acuity care unit, but also a space of warmth, hope, and everyday joy.
Preschool and Beyond
Today, Jesse is thriving in pre-K, and every milestone—his first step, first word, and everyday achievement—shows what’s possible when BAYADA’s 50-year legacy of care meets the loving power of family. We couldn’t be prouder.
"Every milestone Jesse reaches feels miraculous,” Jen shares. “Our nurses didn’t just provide medical support—they became part of the family and helped us grow confident in our abilities.
“To all of the BAYADA employees behind the scenes—you may not have entered our home, but you absolutely are part of our story.”
See how The BAYADA Way—compassion, excellence, and reliability—helps families like the Silberts thrive at home, every day.
